Temporary ExhibitionsHereditas Vasco Araújo exhibit "Hereditas" has been open to the public at Museu do Caramulo from 9 December 2006 to 29 April 2007. The exhibit has integrated an inedited video work named "Hereditas", the video "Hipólito" (2003) and the installation "Protocolo" (2003). "Hereditas" is the result of the cooperation between Museu do Caramulo and the artist Vasco Araújo which, together with the two other works, reveals the concerns of the artist around the issues such as memory and identity. The video "Hereditas" is played in the mountains and in sanatoriums, the elements which better characterise Caramulo, and has been exhibited in Madrid, within the ambit of the 2007 edition of Arco – Contemporary Art Fair. Working mainly video and photography, Vasco Araújo is represented in national institutions and abroad, among others Museu de Serralves (Porto), Centro de Arte Moderna of Fundação Gulbenkian (Lisboa), Museu Reina Sofia (Madrid) and Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris). The exhibition's book, simply entitled "Hereditas", has been launched in the opening, and is a joint edition of Museu do Caramulo and of the publisher Assírio e Alvim, with texts from Isabel Carlos (art critic and commissary to the last editions of Sydney and Venice Biennales) and of João Silvério (curator of the collection of Fundação Luso-Americana). |
