La Bella Macchina

The phenomenon "Automobile" represents, by itself, a true revolution. It changes our way of living, our relation with time, with things and, even, with one another. It changes the world surrounding us and the way we exist in this world, as well as our way to look at it. The landscape is in permanent mutation. Space and time become shorter and shorter. In the hand of the architect, pencil gives a shape to new trends, to also serve the machines that carry us.

In 1899, in the North of Italy, one of the main protagonists in the evolution of the most popular transport means of all times – the automobile – comes to light. Its name, FIAT, "Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino".

The exhibition "FIAT – La Bella Macchina" wishes to find a leading thread in the action, production and conception of FIAT models, at the light of its time, of the existing technological development and of the markets needs.

The necessary conciliation between economically viable mass production and the creation of a technological advanced object, have put FIAT to test in several occasions, whilst confronted with its slogan – fast production with quality and at a low cost.
Because of the permanent search for perfection, it is possible to talk about a FIAT philosophy. A "philosophy" that has never stopped, even when new solutions had been overcome, but that has always encouraged the search for what is new, on a perfect harmony with scientific, technological and industrial development.

For this exhibition we have selected some of the models that better reflect the constant advances operated by this Brand, with Fiat's "philosophy" always in mind.
