Temporary ExhibitionsResidences I "Residences I" is an initiative of the Museu do Caramulo – Abel de Lacerda Foundation which results from a residence for artists program, that occurred in Viseu between 2003 and 2005, promoted by AH – Contemporary Art Gallery. Gabriela Albergaria, André Cepeda, Nuno Cera, João Queiroz and Vítor Pomar were the portuguese artists invited to participate. These five artists with different backgrounds and from various generations, presented together for the first time the work they created during this residency. This collective exhibition gives an opportunity to discover common features between the work developed by theses artists, such as the focus given to the scenery, natural or urban, which is present in each ones work. "Residences I" tries to give new possibilities for interpretation of the work of these five artists, as an individual or as a collective artist. The fact that these works of art were created in the District of Viseu relate them to this region of the country, were the first steps to educating a new public that appreciate a contemporary style are being taken. The Museu do Caramulo – Fundação Abel e João de Lacerda, promotes this initiative with great enthusiasm, helping to create the best conditions for this event which in the case of João Queiroz and Vitor Pomar is a first time. The objective of this exhibition coincides with that of the Museu do Caramulo – Fundação Abel e João de Lacerda: in the approximation of the public to contemporary artistic practices and by expanding the museums collection through donations that will result from this exhibition. |
